Inspired by a recent award presented to his brother Martin by the Brothers of Charity, Noel Cusack is taking on The Edge of Clare Cycle again.
The cycle will take in 440km’s of the Banner including The Estuary, Loop Head,along the Wild Atlantic Way to Kilkee, Doonbeg, Spanish Point, Willy Clancy, Haggs Head, The Cliffs to Doolin, Black Head across to Ballyvaughan, The Clare – Galway Border across to East Clare taking in Mountshannon to Killaloe, Cratloe and The Bridge before returning through Shannon and Quin for the finish-line at Western Garages Showrooms on the Quin Road Ennis.
There are a number of events planned. On Thursday the 15th of March Western Garages on the Quin Road Ennis will host a very special presentation by World Ultra Endurance 500 Mile Cycling Champion Joe Barr “Life Behind Barrs” – 45 Years of Cycling.
All are welcome to attend. Donations are welcome and all proceeds are going towards supporting The Brothers of Charity Special Olympians who take part in The Special Olympics Ireland this June in Dublin.
On Saturday the 17th Team Joe Barr and Noel Cusack along with representatives from the Cycling Community in Clare take part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Ennis @ 11am.
After the Parade Noel and Joe will start the Edge of Clare Cycle leaving Western Garages Showrooms @ 2pm heading West along the road for The Estuary and the Wild Atlantic Way. All Cyclists Welcome to participate and support the lads. They are training for a World 500 mile Endurance event in April hosted by Joe.
Martin Cusack is the inspiration for these events. He recently was presented with an award for becoming the first Brothers of Charity service user to become totally independent from their services in their history.
Martin himself is also an endurance athlete having completed 15 Marathons to date. He himself represented the Brothers of Charity over the years in the Special Olympics.
Martin, Noel and Joe are driven and believe that anything can be achieved with determination and a team effort. Martin believes that you can achieve anything bit by bit, never look at the finish line too soon or you might never get there. Through a step by step approach and hard work you will eventually cross that line and succeed as he has.
