Quare Clare Launches Open Nationwide Video Competition

To mark the 10th anniversary of Ireland’s historic Marriage Equality Referendum, Quare Clare has just launched a new video competition – and everyone aged 18 and over is invited to take part!

Titled “We Said Yes!”, this nationwide call-out welcomes entries from LGBTQIA+ community members and allies alike. Participants are invited to submit a short video (under 60 seconds) reflecting on what it means to live in one of only 38 countries where same-sex marriage is legal. Whether your message is heartfelt, funny, thoughtful, or critical – your voice matters.

Videos should share how it felt when Ireland voted “Yes” in 2015, or what the past decade of Marriage Equality has meant to you. All entries must start with your name, and by entering, you give consent for selected videos to be shared on Quare Clare’s social media, as well as on the platforms of LGBT Ireland and Hotel Doolin.

Thanks to the generous support of our friends at Hotel Doolin, two lucky winners will each receive a one-night stay for two (breakfast included) in the beautiful County Clare.

There are two categories:

Category 1: LGBTQIA+ people who have gotten married since the 2015 referendum (same-sex or otherwise), living anywhere on the island of Ireland.

Category 2: Everyone else – including LGBTQIA+ folks who are not married, and heterosexual allies.

“Ten years ago, Ireland said Yes to love, equality, and visibility for our community. This competition is a chance for people to share what that moment meant, and still means, in their own words. Whether you’re LGBTQIA+ or a proud ally, we want to hear your story, said Karina Murray of Quare Clare

So whether you’re celebrating your own wedding, dreaming of future equality, or simply want to mark this milestone – grab your phone and get filming! Let your voice be part of this national moment.

The deadline is July 20th!
