A star-studded concert taking place in the heart of Ennis town this month with all proceeds going towards delivering vital humanitarian aid to people on the ground in Gaza.
Join us for a night of music and solidarity at the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis. We’re hosting a special event to support the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and the important work they do in attempting to deliver aid to the people of Gaza. Enjoy special live performances from some of the country’s most celebrated musicians and singers.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is an international solidarity movement formed in 2010. It coordinates civilian-led aid missions by sea to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza strip, delivering hummanitarian supplies and protesting collective punishment through non-violent direct action.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition was formed following Israel’s raid on the 2010 Gaza Freedom Flotilla, which involved the killing of nine activists on board in international waters. Since then, it has organized efforts aimed at raising global awareness of the humanitarian needs of Gaza and demanded unrestricted maritime access to deliver essential aid. In addition, the coalition has demanded an end to the Israeli Occupation and that the international community act to hold Israel accountable for its violations of human rights and international law. Israeli authorities have regularly thwarted the coalition’s attempts, seizing the cargos and detaining the passengers.
Performing on the night will be renowned singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Susan O’Neill (RTE Radio 1 ‘Best Female Folk Artist’ nominee), internet sensations Tara Howley (Riverdance / The 2 Johnnies) and Padraig Howley (Sing and Step with Padraig), virtuosic musicians Ultan O’Brien (RTE Radio 1 ‘Best Folk Album’ winner) and Neil Ó Lochlainn (Ensemble Eriú / Cuar), Fergal Scahill (We Banjo 3 / Gearoid McCarthy) and Ruth Smith (musician and poet), Ann Lyons, Seán Lyons and Aisling Lyons (multi-award-winning traditional music family). The MC on the night will be celebrated actor, writer and director Diarmuid De Faoite.
Doors will open at 7:30pm with the music commencing at 8pm. A raffle featuring some great prizes will also take place.
Tickets are €25 and can be purchased here or on the night. All donations further to this are welcome.
