There was rain for the first time since the beginning of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2016 but that didn’t take away from the craic agus ceol on Wednesday.
Weather improved as the day progressed and this was reflected in a large turnout for the Gig Rig which takes place every evening in the Abbey St carpark during the Fleadh. James Cullinan and Tony Linnane were today’s featured artists during the Fidil Beo Series while Des Mulkere and Charles Harris took centre stage during the Cuaird acoustic session.
Pat Foudy’s garage on the Mill Road opted for a different service with a special session taking place instead of the normal repairs. There were sean-nós and set dancers with music from Frank Custy, John Horgan, Ian Keane, Roisin and Rose Clancy.
Dánlann an Chláir hosted the launch of Ann Droney Kirrane’s second solo album. The first ever written account of Garrett Barry the blind piper was released in Inagh while A Global Celebration of Clare’s Musical Diaspora took place at Glór.
Eamon Ward was at Scoil Éigse and the Frank Custy Session, James Feeney recorded the session at Pat Foudy’s while True Media toured the streets of the town.
