On 24 September 2016, Ennis man Noel Cusack will take part in a twenty four hour cycling challenge on the Isle of Man, incorporating the famous motorcycling circuit.
In preparation for this challenge Noel is taking on the Edge of Clare Cycle totalling 412km this Saturday (3 September).
He leaves Clarecastle Village at 9.00 am heading out the Shannon Estuary to Kilrush where he will continue along the Wild Atlantic Way to Loop Head and up the Coast of Clare to Ballyvaughan before crossing to East Clare and then swinging down to Killaloe before turning for Cratloe, Sixmilebridge and Shannon returning to Clarecastle for about 11.00 pm.
He is raising funds for ‘Babydog Rescue’ and Community Text Alert Schemes in Co. Clare. Babydog Rescue looks after abandoned puppies and seeks to find them new homes. Noel will also be making a contribution, through An Garda Síochána, to the Community Alert areas he cycles through.
Noel, who works at Nissan Dulick Motors on the Gort Road in Ennis, is the Secretary of Clare Crusaders Cycling Club and a member of the Committee of Clare Cycle Safety Initiative (C2Si). He said he believes in raising awareness amongst communities with regard to road safety and wants to create a link between Cyclists and the Community Areas they cycle in.
