Stories of the Supernatural at Canny’s Bar Killanena

Cuimhneamh an Chláir’s storytelling and folklore sharing nights continue this Hallowe’en with a night of supernatural tales at Canny’s Bar Killanena.

Following a resoundingly successful night of folklore sharing last August at the Bogdale Inn in Kilmaley, we are answering your requests and bringing these storytelling nights to venues around the county, where local people are the stars of the show.

You are invited to delve into the folklore of your own parish.  Resurrect stories from your past told by grandparents or old neighbours.  Do you remember folklore about haunted houses, enchanted lakes or the Hungry Grass?  Music from fairy forts? Any piseogs?

Maybe you’ve read them in the Schools Folklore Collection?

Find your parish’s stories and share them with us on Fri 31 October 7.30pm, Canny’s Bar Killanena.  This is not an evening of ‘performance’ or ‘professional’ storytelling,  it’s just ordinary people sharing the folklore of their own parishes, re-imagining a time in Co. Clare when beliefs were quite different to today.

The event is free but must be pre-booked. Tickets are available here…

Booking details also on Cuimhneamh an Chláir social media.
