The Sunrise Kiirtan Festival Ireland returns for its third consecutive year on September 13th and 14th at Sunrise Education Trust, a yoga centre and vegetable farm located near Whitegate, East Clare.
The mission of Sunrise farm is to promote and educate for health, happiness, sustainability, and service, based on the principle of love for all.
Sunrise Farm hosts this unique cultural gathering, referred to as ‘mystic picnic’. Think of it as a relative of Electric Picnic –a music event designed for those interested in singing mantras and chanting but who enjoy the country life! The two-day event features mantra music, poetry, dance, and storytelling, offering audiences not just entertainment but a shared spiritual and cultural experience.
Performances run from 10 a.m. on Saturday starting with a powerful performance of Indian classical dance by Mohana Natarajan and then continues with eleven hours kiirtan on Saturday and seven on Sunday. Each group of artists will perform for up to an hour, inviting the audience to join in with call-and-response chanting, creating a vibrant collective atmosphere. The festival is open to people (including adults and children) of all faiths — and none — with an emphasis on the oneness of all. The venue is a strictly alcohol, smoking, and drug-free space.
This year’s line-up includes festival organiser Dr. Jyoshna LaTrobe, Jantien, Celtic Kiirtan, Ashoka, Gunatiita (Sweden), poet Siobhan MacMahon, among other artists from Ireland and across Europe. There will also be a community Dance on Friday night from 6.00pm two 7.00pm, which is open to the public.
