Arts organisations in Co Clare have received funding to the value of €236,000 from The Arts Council.
Glór, Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy and Salmon Poetry are the three organisations in the county that will benefit as part of the allocation of funds. It is part of a €65.1 million planned investment from The Arts Council for 2017. The aim of this €5m increase in the 2016 figures is to see people across Ireland engage in exciting and innovative ways with the arts.
Established in 1974, Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy is the oldest of all the traditional music summer schools in Ireland. It runs for ten days each July in Miltown Malbay.
Salmon Poetry in Ennistymon publishes work by unseen new and established Irish poets. In recent times the work of a select list of international poets has also been published.
In 2016 glór celebrated its fifteenth birthday. Since its opening in 2001, the local authority owned venue has become one of the most popular destinations for lovers of the arts in Co Clare.
