ICO welcomes return of Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud

The Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is delighted to welcome the return of Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud on his third visit to ICO, in a series of concerts in Dublin, Limerick, and Newport Co Mayo on 10-12 April.

These concerts offer audiences the chance to experience a fascinating interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Few artists captivate an audience as Henning Kraggerud does. In past seasons, ICO has revelled in his performances of Norwegian music and Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Kraggerud brings a unique energy to the stage, enchanting audiences with his engaging way of directly communicating his love and joy of music making.

Henning Kraggerud and ICO embark on an exciting journey through Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Kraggerud will bring the seasons to life, from the cheerful spring birds and intense summer storms to the fleeting autumnal foxes and winter chills. This is no ordinary rendition of The Four Seasons—it is a vivid exploration of the music’s drama, with Kraggerud’s connection to Vivaldi’s work creating a deeply immersive experience.

In addition to Vivaldi’s masterpiece, Kraggerud will perform three of his own compositions, interspersing them between the seasons. These works offer new perspectives and dimensions, merging the magic of the past with fresh sounds.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience The Four Seasons like never before. Feel the return of spring, the heat of summer, the joy of autumn, and the quiet of winter, as powerful and resonant today as they were four centuries ago.

With its leader Katherine Hunka, ICO pushes the boundaries of classical music by exploring innovative and diverse ways to experience orchestral performances. ICO’s commitment to fresh programming includes mixing traditional repertoire with new works from Ireland’s finest young composers. The orchestra continues to inspire audiences of all ages through its educational initiatives, including its free music programme ICO Schools in Limerick city.

Catch Henning Kraggerud and Irish Chamber Orchestra at the Whyte Recital Hall, Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin and St. Patrick’s Church, Newport-Mayo on 10, 11 and 12 April.
