Singer/songwriter Trish Flanagan releases debut EP

‘Songs from County Clare’ is the debut EP from singer/songwriter Trish Flanagan.

The album represents Trish’s love for her adopted county with subjects including a visit to St. Brigid’s Well, Liscannor and a step back in time to the Rineen Ambush over one hundred years ago.

The EP began its life at a series of workshops Trish attended with the singer/songwriter John Spillane. John talks about a sense of place in certain songs and Trish wanted to convey something of the landscape, history and experience of County Clare in her songs.

A recording of The Well of St. Brigid became an anthem of hope for many during COVID, thanks to its promotion by Fr. Des Forde of Lahinch in his online masses.

The Ambush at Rineen recounts the story of Trish’s great-grandfather harbouring some of the rebels involved in the 1920 event. The commanding officer called off a search of the family home when he saw photos of her grand-uncles in Merchant Navy uniforms on the wall.

Walks under the night sky at the Cliffs of Moher and a visit down a Green Road near where Trish lives in Moy provided the inspiration for the other tracks.

Mastered by Martin O’Malley and produced by Jon O’Connell, who provides much of the accompaniment, Trish is joined by musicians Kieran O’Connell and Adam Shapiro

Trish’s Songs From County Clare is available in digital format and on CD via Bandcamp.
