Clare FM celebrating listenership increase

Clare FM has further consolidated its long-held position as the premier radio station in the county.

The latest Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR) figures, published today, have confirmed that the Ennis-based station has seen 1,000 new weekly listeners in the last year.

This means Clare FM now boasts a weekly listenership of 53,000, which equates to one in two adults in the county tuning into the IMRO Local Radio Station of the Year (2023) every single day. Additionally, listeners are tuning in for longer periods, contributing to a market share increase.

Nationally, today’s figures show that the Irish daily radio audience is at over 3.4 million listeners, growing by 69,000 listeners.

Padraic Flaherty, Clare FM’s Programme Director, expressed delight with the latest figures. “We are thrilled to welcome 1,000 new listeners to Clare FM. Every day, we strive to cater to a broad audience, providing the latest in current affairs, news, sports, and the biggest hits.

Next month we’ll celebrate our 35th birthday which is a remarkable achievement. Our ethos has always been, and will always remain, to be relevant to our audience and ensure we are the number one choice in County Clare.

A sincere thank you to all our listeners who tune in each day,” Mr Flaherty added.

JNLR (Joint National Listenership Research) is a joint industry research project conducted on behalf of the Irish radio industry. JNLR is commissioned and controlled by the JNLR Management Committee with representation from RTE, Today FM, Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, BAI (Broadcasting Authority of Ireland) and the Advertising Industry.

The primary objective of the JNLR survey is to provide reliable estimates of audiences to National, Regional and Local Radio, as a basis for the planning of advertising schedules. The secondary objective is to provide radio audience estimates to facilitate programming analysis/planning.

The JNLR data is presented in two parts – (i) week-day listening patterns and (ii) week-end listening patterns. All data is archived on this portal (see ‘Sectors’ to refine your search by region).
