It is almost twenty two years since one of Ireland’s most iconic sitcoms, Fr Ted first aired, the show is regarded as one of the finest of its kind and continues to make people laugh.
Craggy Island was the fictional setting for the show created by Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan but it is the parochial house as seen in the opening titles that most viewers will remember for evermore. That same house is located in Lackareagh in North Clare and is a popular tourist attraction today.
Niall Cosgrove took a trip to The Burren where he used drone footage to view the scenic Mullaghmore and whilst in the region headed in the direction of the famous parochial house that played host to so many wonderful scenes involving the late Dermot Morgan and Frank Kelly along with Ardal O’Hanlon and Pauline McLynn.
Fr Ted first aired on the 21st April 1995 and the season finale and the last episode of the sitcom was broadcast on the 1st May 1998.
