Farmers stage protests on M18/N18 flyovers

Farmers and members of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) members have held protests this evening at three locations in Clare.

Similar protests have been taking place in every county following a decision by IFA National Council to show solidarity with protesting EU farmers.

The demonstrations, led by the IFA, have been held in support of farmers in France, Germany, Belgium and several other countries who have been protesting about over-regulation, bureaucracy and incomes pressure.

Farmers in Clare, along with their tractors and equipment, parked on the N18 flyover at junction 5 Cratloe where they draped an IFA flag on the bridge.

Another group gathered on the flyover at junction 11 on the M18 at Latoon/Dromoland. Farmers were also due to gather at Duggan’s Pub on the R352 Ennis to Tulla Road near Spancilhill.

The protests were scheduled to take place between 4.00pm and 6.00pm, the busiest time of the evening on the road network.
