Farming For Nature has announced details of their Lúnasa events including three which will be hosted on Clare farms.
The ancient Celtic festival of the harvest – Lúnasa or Lughnasa honours the god Lugh, the God of light and skill.
As a Farming for Nature community, we come together to celebrate our farmers for nourishing us and nurturing the vitality in our land now and throughout the year.
Historically, this would be the time to the fill the larder after (hopefully) a bountiful crop. We acknowledge the skill and knowledge of our farmers to produce these bounties, which often goes overlooked. We also welcome the waning of the light and an opportunity for things to slow down (a little).
Things aren’t slowing down at Farming for Nature who have published details of their upcoming programs and events where farmers and members of the public alike, can brush up on their farming for nature knowledge and skills.
A Farming For Nature spokesperson said: “For one day only, over 21 of our Farming for Nature Ambassador’s farms will be open to the public for you to come and enjoy. On the 31st August, we’re inviting you to reconnect with the land, experience farms that nurture all kinds of life and see where your food comes from.
This event provides an opportunity for the general public to come and visit a working farm, to find out more about these farmers vital role in providing healthier soils, cleaner waters and protecting biodiversity for future generations.”
The events will take place nationwide including at three venues in Clare including:
Moyhill Farm
Burren Farm Experience
Glendree Organic Farm
