Four injured in Miltown Malbay public order incident

Monday, 1.30pm – Gardaí have confirmed that four males – two aged in their 20’s, one in his 30’s and one in his 40’s, sustained injuries during a public order incident in the town.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that those injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

“One of the males (aged in his 20’s) received medical treatment at the scene. The two males (aged in their 30’s and 40’s) were subsequently conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

The scene was preserved for technical examination,” the spokesperson said.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, including road users with video / dashcam footage from the area at this time, is asked to make contact with investigating Gardaí.

Sunday, 9.20pm – Gardaí are investigating a serious incident in Miltown Malbay in West Clare with at least one person reported to have been transported to hospital.

Gardaí have cordoned two scenes close to The Square in the town following the incident earlier this evening.

A video that has been circulated on social media platforms this evening shows at least one male who appeared to be bleeding profusely while locals reported ‘blood pools’ outside two premises in the town.

The National Ambulance Service deployed resources to the incident and it’s understood that at least one male has been transported to hospital for treatment.

Gardaí have used crime scene tape to cordon off two areas, one at the corner of the Mullagh Road and Ennis Road and the other nearby on Main Street. Both areas are expected to be technically examined.
