Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body on the shoreline near Fanore in North Clare yesterday.
Gardaí were alerted shortly before 3.00pm and responded to the location. The Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard was also requested to attend the scene.
The body of a man was found on the shore near Crumlin Point just south of Fanore. Coast Guard personnel and Gardaí later recovered the body from the scene before the remains were removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident where the body of a male was found in Fanore, Co. Clare on Tuesday afternoon, 5th August 2025.
The male in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to hospital and a post-mortem examination has been arranged.”
