Hotel Doolin has received a timely pre-summer season boost after scooping two awards at The Irish Hotel Awards.

The hotel has been recognised with awards for ‘Best Chef in Munster’ and ‘Best Manager’.

Hosted by NI Media at the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone last week, the prestigious awards celebrated the best of the Irish hotel industry, with Hotel Doolin Executive Head Chef, Daniel Craughwell being awarded ‘Best Chef in Munster’, beating off stiff opposition in what is a hugely competitive category in a region with a range of top international hotels.

The hotel, which is located in one of the most popular destinations on the Wild Atlantic Way and noted home of Irish music, also claimed ‘Best Manager’ award, which went to GM Dónal Minihane.

Mr Minihane said: “The two awards reflects the growing status of Hotel Doolin, which is still relatively new but growing in reputation and recognition as a top hotel destination on the Wild Atlantic Way.  To hear our hotel name called out twice for awards on the night was a very proud moment for us all.  It’s really testament to the hard work, warmth and creativity of all our staff.

“Daniel is a hugely talented chef and had already become one of the most talked about hotel chefs in the region. This award very much validates that. Personally, I’m humbled to have won the Best Manager award as I know only too well the standard that’s out there.  It was a great night for us and gives us an extra bounce coming into what’s looking like a very busy summer season here in Doolin.”

The Irish Hotel Awards was established to celebrate the outstanding work being done by hotels across Ireland. It follows the continued success of NI Media’s YesChef Awards for the restaurant industry.
