A body has been recovered from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher this evening.
Gardaí and the Coast Guard were alerted at around 8.30pm on Monday evening when a man was seen falling from the cliffs.
The body could be seen from the clifftop but could not be safely recovered so the effort was stood down.
Coast Guard volunteers returned to the scene early this morning however there was no sign of the body.
Following further searches today, a report from a member of the public this afternoon alerted search teams to a possible sighting south of the main viewing platform.
A body was recovered at around 6.30pm and taken to the Doolin Coast Guard station before being removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination is due to be carried out.
The Sligo search and rescue helicopter, Rescue 118, was involved in the initial search last night while the Shannon aircraft, Rescue 115, assisted today.
