The body of a woman has been recovered from the River Shannon.
Volunteer members of Bunratty Search and Rescue located the body at around 4.00pm on Friday afternoon close to Cratloe in an area known as Cratloe Creek.
Searches have been ongoing in recent weeks for two women believed to have entered the river in Limerick City.
The body found today has not been formally identified so it’s not yet known whether it’s that of of the missing women.
The body was taken ashore by the Bunratty Search and Rescue team and later removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.
The volunteer members from Bunratty had been involved in the search in recent weeks along with the Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard, Limerick Search and Rescue Service, Limerick City Fire Brigade and Limerick Land Search Team.
