Believing that creativity begins early and should be encouraged always, all primary pupils are invited to write a poem (or two) of no more than 15 lines on any subject.
This activity is being organised by the Poetry Collective in conjunction with Clare Education Centre – whose support is greatly appreciated.
No particular form is stipulated and there will be just the one ‘open’ category but there will be special awards for high-quality poems by younger pupils. Poems of, say, three or four lines from children in the early primary years will be welcomed.
The Collective will also organise prizes and arrange media coverage and publicity (hopefully some poems will be read on the radio). As previously, the perpetual Trophy (a singing bowl) will be awarded to the school with the widest range of ‘good-quality’ poems contributed.
The closing date is Monday 3rd April.
Poems may be submitted to Mike Douse at: mike@poetrycollective.com
