From Sunday, the streets of Ennis will be alive with the sound of traditional music and Francis Street will be no different.
Awarding radio station Clare FM is ready to celebrate Fleadh Cheoil Na hÉireann which will get underway on Sunday.
As a staunch promoter of traditional Irish music for the last 26 years, Clare FM will be at the heart of the action throughout the nine day event which is expect to attract 400,000 visitors to the town.
The iconic West Wind programme tradition music show will be the centre-point of the music as the jigs & reels echo through Ennis along with new shows especially created for the Fleadh.
From Monday 15th August Clare FM will broadcast “The Lunchtime Session” from 1:15-2pm. This will be presented by popular West Wind Presenter Caoimhín Ó Sé.
During the lunchtime session Caoimhín will be speaking with local, National & International musicians. The lunchtime session will be broadcast from the Clare FM marquee which will be located outside its studio’s on Francis Street.
Each day, and night, Clare FM will be inviting musicians, participants in the various competitions & listeners to be part of the live broadcasts. The West Wind will broadcast from 7-9pm each night from Monday 15th right through to Monday 22nd and will be live from the Clare FM marquee with Joan Hanrahan, Paula Carroll, Ronan Burke, Pat Costello & Eoin O’Neill, if you can sing, dance, carry a tune or just want to hear what’s going on you’ll be very welcome.
The colour of the Fleadh can be heard throughout Clare FM, from in-depth and additional news coverage to specially created pieces called “Live the music” where we hear from local musicians on why traditional music is so special to them.
The normal Clare FM jingles have been transformed with a twist of Traditional music and the Clare FM team will be on the streets, at the camp sites and talking to some of the many thousands of visitors due to visit within the nine day period.
Each day on Clare FM’s Flagship programme, we will also hear how Ennis is responding to the Fleadh from local businesses, what’s happening around the County and updates throughout the day on traffic and general information.
