Clare shooters on the mark in Ardee

Clare clay pigeon shooters descended on Ardee Co Louth at the weekend for the national clay target championships run by the National Association of Regional Game Councils (NARGC).
The 12-man Clare squad, including a club team from tulassa shooting range, participated in under 21’s, junior, side by side, vets and super vets events run over two days.
The weather made for some serious competition amongst participants from all parts of the country.
The Clare county team sealed 3rd place in their division on Saturday while in the the junior event, Keith O’Loughlin of Ennistymon took 3rd place. Keith also shot with his county team with an impressive score of 41/50.
Sunday saw the Tullassa club team taking to the field but on the day were pushed down the leader board by some very impressive shooting teams.
Also on Sunday, Clare’s barry madden took an impressive victory in the side-by-side competition with a score of 46/50 and had to go into a shoot off were he shot 6/6 to take gold.
Barry has been chasing this title for a few years and always stuck with the side-by-side and this year was his year to prevail.
