A public meeting will be held in Doonbeg Parish Hall next Monday, 10th April at 9.00pm hosted by the Doughmore Coastal Protection Group.

The aim of the meeting is to to focus community demand for delivery of a protection scheme to protect the coastline, properties, farms and Golf Resort which provides employment to 250 people and more in summer season.

Secretary of the Doughmore Coastal Protection Group, Margaret McGrath, said: “The acute threat from storms and high seas has been apparent especially in recent years, and it is incomprehensible that permission has not been granted for coastal protection.

Even more incredible is the fact that €10m and a protection plan is on the table and still no permission from those in power. Locals are organising to protect themselves, their livelihoods, homes and property, and the public meeting will be the first step in that campaign,” she added.

The meeting will take place on Monday, April 10th at 9.00pm in the Parish Hall in Doonbeg.
