Gardaí in Clare are investigating an incident where an elderly man was attacked in his own home over the weekend.
On Saturday morning, 2nd December 2023, at approximately 9:45am, two men dressed as workers, knocked on the door of a residential property in Emlagh near Quilty. The men forced their way into the house and searched the property.
The occupant of the residence, a male in his 80s, was assaulted during this incident. He received treatment for minor injuries at the scene from National Ambulance Service paramedics who were called to the scene.
The men, who took a quantity of cash during the burglary, subsequently left the scene in a vehicle.
Gardaí in Ennistymon are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
A spokesperson said: “Any persons or road users who were in or around Emlagh, Quilty on Saturday 2nd December between 9:30a.m. and 10:30a.m. and who may have video/dash-cam footage are asked to contact investigating Gardaí.”
