Gardaí investigate spate of burglaries across Clare

Gardaí are investigation a spate of burglaries reported in various parts of the county over the past week.

Crime Prevention Officer for Clare, Sergeant Catriona Holohan outlined the details of the  incidents beginning in Ennis.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating a burglary that took place in the Cranagher area of Quin last Tuesday, 2nd July. This burglary took place between 1.30pm and 3.30pm when the owner had stepped out for this short period. On their return access has been forcefully gained through the utility room and a number of pieces of jewellery were stolen in this burglary.

On the same day, Tuesday the 2nd July between 12 midday and 8pm a house was also entered in the Cragard area of Barefield.

Perpetrators for both of these burglaries would have required some mode of transport and we are appealing to anyone that was in the Cranagher area of Quin and the Cragard area of Barefield on Tuesday, 2nd July and observed people out on the road or observed a vehicle that they didn’t recognise or felt it was acting out of character, please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100.

On Saturday, 6th July between 11.30am and 7pm on Sunday, 7th July in Cathedral Court, Ennis. A number of pieces of jewellery were taken.

Ennistymon

Gardaí in Ennistymon are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Tullygarvan West area of Lahinch on Saturday between 11am and 3pm. The perpetrators forced entry at the rear of the property.

A second burglary took place in the Ballyea area in Inagh on Saturday between 12 midday and 4pm. Similar to the incident in Tullygarvan West, the property was entered forcefully by the perpetrators, causing significant damage.

Ennistymon Gardaí are anxious to speak to anyone that may have seen someone walking in this area or driving in the Tullygarvan West area or the Ballyea area last Saturday during these times, please contact Ennisytmon Garda Station on 065 7072180.

Kilmihil

Gardaí in Kilmihil and Kilrush are appealing for the public’s assistance following a burglary that occurred in the Boulinavode area of Kilmihil at 8am last Wednesday morning, 3rd July. At 8am last Wednesday the owner of this home was approached by a male asking if he could charge his phone, he pretended that he was looking for directions to another house in Kilmihil. During this incident a second male appeared and some of the homeowner’s property was stolen. This was a very distressing incident for the homeowner and their family and we are really appealing to anyone that was in Kilmihil or on the roads to Kilmihil to please check their CCTV, check their dash-cam footage, chat to their family and neighbours and identify if anyone observed people or a vehicle in the Boulinavode area of Kilmihil last Wednesday around 8am. Scariff

Scariff Gardaí are investigating two burglaries that took place in the early hours of Friday morning between midnight and 00.37am.

Gardaí believe that there three males were involved in these two burglaries. They gained access to two commercial premises, an electrical store and to an off-licence on the Main Street. A significant amount of items were taken from the electrical store including mobile phones and Dell laptops. A large quantity of cigarettes were taken from the off-licence.

These perpetrators were captured on CCTV leaving the scene in a Grey Volkswagon Golf. They drove against the traffic down the hill from Scariff in the direction of Tuamgraney at 00.37am last Friday morning. Scariff Gardaí are appealing to anyone that has dash-cam footage on their vehicle or CCTV to please contact them on 061 922790.

Crusheen

Ennis Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a burglary that took place this morning at exactly 1.42am in Crusheen. A retail premises on the Main Street was entered from the front causing significant damage to the entrance. Gardaí believe that three males were involved and travelled to and from the scene in a grey Volkswagen Golf. Gardaí are currently viewing CCTV and we are appealing to anyone that may have been driving through Crusheen from 1am onwards, or if you observed a grey Volkswagen Golf in the area or the local estates over the last number of days, please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100.

Shannon

Gardaí in Shannon are also investigating a burglary that took place this morning just after 2am in the Wolfe Tones GAA Club House, Tullyvarraga. Four males entered the premises and caused a significant amount of damage before leaving in a grey Volkswagen Golf. Shannon Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this vehicle in the area, which may have CCTV or dash-cam footage that would have captured the grey Volkswagen Golf.
