Gardaí in Ennis are investigating an alleged assault of a teenage boy in the town last week.
The incident occurred at around 1.30pm at Newbridge Road in Ennis when a group of youths were approached by a man in his 40s. The man, described as being of stocky build and grey hair, began berating the ground, before punching one boy in the face and then making off towards the Gort Road.
Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Catríona Holohan has appealed for information about this incident.
“Gardaí in Ennis are investigating an assault on a teenage boy on Newbridge Road last Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1.30pm. A group of youths was gathered on Newbridge Road chatting when a male described as in his 40’s, greyish hair and stocky build approached the group. The male then began berating the youths and punched one of the young people into the face.
He then walked away, standing in the middle of the road near the entrance to Ennis Courthouse and continued walking in the direction of the Gort Road. This was a frightening experience for this young person and their friends,” Sgt Holohan said.
