Ennis Gardaí are continuing their investigations today into an incident that occurred in the Acha Bhile estate on the Lahinch Road last Friday night just after 10pm.
Gardaí received a report of shots being fired in this residential estate. A male in his 40’s was arrested and detained under the provisions of Section 30, Offences against the State Act, 1939. He was later released.
A male in his 20’s was subsequently arrested and detained under the provisions of Section 30, Offences against the State Act, 1939. This male was later charged with Section 11 which is the Production of an Article During the Course of a Dispute under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990. He was later brought before Limerick District Court.
Crime Prevention Officer for Clare Sergeant Catriona Holohan said: “Gardaí believe that there were more persons involved in this incident. They are described as male, wearing dark clothing and face coverings. A number of perpetrators are believed to have left the scene in a wine coloured Volkswagen Passat.
This is an on-going investigation and Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this incident, witnessed any males wearing face coverings in the Acha Bhile estate or have any information to please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”
