Gardaí seek information about hit-and-run incident

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating the circumstances of a road traffic collision involving a young cyclist and a driver who failed to remain at the scene.

The incident occurred at around 1pm yesterday, Wednesday June 5th, at the Kilrush Road Roundabout at Ashline on the outskirts of Ennis.

A young cyclist was struck by a vehicle as he was cycling around the roundabout on the Kilrush Road near the entrance to Ennis National School.

The offending vehicle, which failed to remain at the scene, is understood to have travelled in the direction of Ennis town after the collision.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or drivers in the area at the time with dash camera footage to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065-6848100.

* The location of the incident is on the roundabout at Ennis National School on the N68 Ennis to Kilrush Road from where traffic can travel towards West Clare; into the school or up onto the N85 Ennis Bypass/Western Relief Road.
