Gardaí will host a public Open Day at their station in Shannon today (Wednesday).
Locals are invited to the event which will be held between midday and 3pm.
Visitors will get the chance to view Garda vehicles, meet members of the specialist units including the Garda Mounted Unit while a Garda Air Support Unit helicopter will also make an appearance.

The event will also provide the public with the opportunity to meet their local Gardaí and have a chat about any issues in their community they may wish to raise.
Special guests on the day will be Garda Aiden O’Mahony, recent winner of Dancing With The Stars as well as Garda Niamh Briggs, Captain of the Irish Women’s Rugby team.
Members of Bunratty Search and Rescue, Shannon Fire Service, Order of Malta as well as the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, will also attend.
Volunteers attached to Clare Civil Defence’s Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) unit will also be in Shannon to display their drones which they regularly use in search and rescue operations.

Members of the public, particularly families, will be welcomed at the event.
