A 42-year-old man injured in a road traffic collision in Ennis last week has lost his fight for life.
Ennis man Eugene McNamara sustained serious injuries when he was struck by a car on the Gort Road close to Ennis General Hospital on October 26th. There were two cars involved in the incident which also left two middle-aged women injured.

Mr McNamara was rushed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment but passed away last night.
Two men who fled the scene were detained by an off-duty Garda a short distance from the scene. They were arrested and questioned before being released without charge.
The investigation into the incident is continuing and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
