The Polish national was intercepted and questioned in an intelligence-led operation before he could board his flight to Krakow.
Officers seized the cash under proceeds of crime legislation.
At Ennis District Court today, Revenue officers were granted a three month detention order to facilitate further investigations.
The order allows for the cash to be held while an investigation into it’s origins are established.
