Gardaí have confirmed that the male in his late 30s arrested on Tuesday 10th September 2019 in relation to this incident was released without charge this evening Saturday 14th September 2019. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí investigating the murder of a man in Ardnacrusha Co Clare in 2006 have made an arrest in the case.
Aidan Kelly was shot a number of times on the night of May 10th 2006. A firearm was recovered from the scene at the time. This is the first arrest to be made in connection with the murder.
The 19-year-old from Moyross in Limerick was shot in a country lane in what was believed to be at the time, to have been a gangland-style shooting. Mr Kelly was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
A Garda spokesman has confirmed: “Gardaí investigating the murder of Aidan Kelly on 10th May 2006 at Blackwater, Ardnacrusha, Co. Clare, have arrested a man in his late 30s.
He was arrested this morning and is currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007”.
