The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard Unit was tasked to two separate incidents on Lough Derg early today.
At 09:10am the unit was alerted by to a 19 foot vessel with engine problems between Parkers Point and Killaloe. The was one person on board the boat.
A boat crew launched and and escorted the vessel back to safe harbour in Killaloe.
The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat had also been tasked but stood down.
Soon after returning to base the unit was again requested to assist a man with a 30 foot vessel at Ballina slipway.
The man had tried to take his vessel from the water at Ballina slipway but got into difficulty. The boat became unstable on the trailer and when detached from their car, the trailer’s drawbar pitched 8 foot in the air.
Killaloe Coast Guard were able to relaunch the vessel and took it under tow to safe harbour close to Ballina slipway.
