The search for a man missing from Limerick is continuing today with the Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter and the volunteer Bunratty Search and Rescue unit providing assistance.

A search was mounted earlier this week after a car belonging to a local man, not seen since Monday, was found close to the River Shannon in Limerick City.

Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service boat crews have been carrying out searches in recent days while the crew of Rescue 115 have undertaken a detailed sweep of the River Shannon from Bunratty and Limerick City including shorelines and islands.

Bunratty Search and Rescue volunteers have also been undertaking searches in an effort to locate any trace of the man. The Bunratty based search team has committed to continuing with the search over the weekend.

Other volunteer units are expected to join the search over the weekend.
