An elderly woman has died following a road traffic collision in East Clare this afternoon.
The incident, involving a tractor and a pedal cyclist, occurred at around 12.45pm on the L3180 local road at Toonagh, Tulla.
National Ambulance Service paramedics, GardaĆ and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station all responded to the scene.
The HSEās Cork-based Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) air ambulance was also dispatched to the incident. The helicopter, Aeromed-01, was able to land close to the scene.
A female cyclist in her 70s sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No other injuries have been reported.
GardaĆ have confirmed that the road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators while they have also issued an appeal for witnesses.
A Garda spokesperson said: āAny road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12noon-1pm today, Saturday 24th May 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating GardaĆ.
