Emergency services have dealt with a multi-vehicle collision on the N18 near Bunratty at rush hour this morning.
Four cars were involved in two separate collisions close to each other in the southbound lanes of the N18 between junction 6 Bunratty and junction 5 at Cratloe.
The National Ambulance Service was notified of the collision shortly after 8.00am. Gardaí were notified while units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised from Shannon station. Limerick Fire and Rescue Service also dispatched resources from its Limerick City station.
On arrival at the scene, emergency services discovered two incidents involving two vehicles each. The southbound lanes of the carriageway were promptly closed while emergency services assessed the situation.
Once it was established that there were no serious injuries sustained in the incidents, fire crews implemented an Emergency Traffic Management system and were able to open one lane to traffic.
Once the vehicles had been removed from the scene and the road cleared of debris, the route was fully reopened.
