Update: Gardaí have issued an appeal for the public’s help following a significant incident of criminal damage in Ennis.
A number of vehicles in the Quin Road Business Park Ennis on Sunday the 4th of May at approximately 00.10am. A suspect is believed to have set one vehicle on fire, which subsequently spread to adjoining vehicles.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The perpetrator in this instance, is believed to have entered and exited the area from the Clareabbey River Walk.
Gardaí are interested in speaking to anybody that may have observed suspicious persons or vehicles at Quinn Road Business Park, Quin Road and Clareabbey Bypass.
Perhaps you saw a person or persons acting suspiciously, or a vehicle parked up. If you have dash cam footage between midnight and half past midnight on the 04/05/25, which was Saturday night into Sunday morning we would ask that you contact Gardaí.”
“We are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this incident or may have information, including dash cam footage, in relation to this crime, to please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100.”
Gardaí are investigating an incident of suspected criminal damage which saw a large number of vehicles destroyed by fire overnight.
The blaze was reported at around midnight at a facility on the Quin Road in Ennis. Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the incident.
On arrival, emergency crews found that a caravan and a number of cars were on fire. Firefighters quickly began tackling the blaze and spent around three hours at the scene dealing with the incident.
It’s understood that as many as 18 cars were extensively damaged or destroyed while at least one other suffered minor damage.
The scene was later preserved pending completion of a technical examination. Another scene was examined at a premises a short distance away however it’s not yet known whether that’s linked to the vehicle fires.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí and local fire services responded to an incident at a premises on Quin Road, Ennis shortly after midnight following reports of a vehicle on fire. No one was injured. The scene is preserved for examination and inquiries are ongoing.”
