A teenage cyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision near Cratloe.
The boy was travelling along Cratloe to Sixmilebridge Rd (R462) road when he was involved in a collision with a car at around 6.20pm on Friday.
The road was closed for several hours between Cratloe Cross and Gorman Cross so that a forensic examination could be carried out.
The boy was treated at the scene before being transported to Shannon Airport by road from where he was airlifted to Cork University Hospital by the Irish Coast Guard search and rescue helicopter.
Gardaí at Shannon are investigating the incident and have asked anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them if they witnessed the collision or knows anything about the incident.
