Watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard’s marine rescue coordination centre (MRCC) on Valentia Island in Kerry tasked the Killaloe unit at around 3.30pm.

A boat crew launched from the Coast Guard station at Pier Head in Killaloe and were alongside the vessel at 3.50pm. All on board were safe and well and wearing life jackets.

The Coast Guard crew found that the vessel was making way under its own power. The skipper confirmed they were happy to continue towards Killaloe with the rescue boat alongside in case assistance was needed.

At 4.20pm. the vessel reached the slipway in Ballina where the boat was recovered from the water.

The crew informed watch officers at Valentia MRCC and they were standing down and returning to base.
