A man has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision in Co Clare this afternoon.
The incident, which involved a tractor and motorcycle, occurred shortly after 2.00pm on the main N68 Ennis to Kilrush road at Crown near Lissycasey. The motorcyclist is understood to have been injured but not seriously.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Kilrush and Ennis stations responded to the incident along with the National Ambulance Service and GardaÃ.
A rapid response advanced paramedic unit was first to reach the scene and after assessing the injured motorcyclist, the Emergency Aeromedical Service was requested to dispatch a helicopter to the scene.
The HSE’s Rathcoole, Co Cork based air ambulance, Aeromed-01 (zero-one), was alerted and tasked to the incident.
The motorcyclist was later airlifted to hospital for treatment. It’s understood the tractor driver escaped injured.
The road had been closed to allow emergency services deal with the incident but was reopened at around 4.20pm.
