Man suffers smoke inhalation after fire

One person was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in Shannon overnight.

The domestic fire at Tradaree Court in the town was reported around midnight.

Two units of the Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon responded to the incident. The ambulance service and gardaí also attended the scene. On arrival, fire crews discovered a downstairs room on fire.

One person was reported to be suffering from smoke inhalation after escaping from the building. The man was treated at the scene by fire service first responders until an ambulance arrived.

The casualty was assessed at the scene by ambulance paramedics but was found not to require hospitalisation.

ESB engineers were also requested to attend to ensure the house was safe following the blaze.
