N18 reopens after earlier collision near Bunratty

The N18 dual-carriage has reopened following an earlier road traffic collision near Bunratty.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at around 4.00pm in the southbound lanes at Clonmoney south. A car collided with the wire crash barrier between junctions 7 Sixmilebridge and junction 6 Bunratty.

National Ambulance Service paramedics, Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon and Ennis stations responded to the incident.

The dual-carriage was closed at the turn off for Bunratty and traffic diverted through the village while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Once the car had been recovered from the scene and the area had been declared safe, the dual-carriageway was fully reopened at 5.15pm.

Traffic Infrastructure Ireland crews also attended the scene to assess the damage to the barrier and will carry out repair works in due course.
