One person has been transported to hospital following a three-car collision on the main R476 Ennis to Corofin road.
The collision occurred at Drummina on the Corofin side of Roadstone Ryan’s Quarry. Emergency Services were alerted shortly before 11.00am.
National Ambulance Service paramedics and an emergency response unit with a doctor attended the incident along with two units of the Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station and Gardaí.
Two of the vehicles left the road following the collision while the third remained on the roadway blocking the route. Traffic was diverted away from the area so that emergency crews could safely deal with the incident.
The occupants of all three cares were assessed at the scene before one driver was transported to hospital for further treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
All three cars were recovered from the scene and fire crews cleared the roadway of debris and used dispersant to treat engine fluids that were left on an already wet surface.
The road was reopened to traffic at around 12.20pm.
While emergency crews were dealing with this incident, they were alerted to another road traffic collision on the same route a few kilometres.
The two-car crash was found not to be serious and traffic flow was maintained at the scene. No injuries were reported.
