A woman who broke her ankle during a visit to the Clare coast on Sunday has thanked the emergency services who responded and took care of her.
Pauline Hayes from Limerick contacted The Clare Herald asking to send her sincere thanks to the various services.
Ms Hayes was injured on Sunday last while enjoying an afternoon walk near the White Strand, Spanish Point. The accident happened at around 1.15pm.
Lifeguards who had been on duty at nearby White Strand went to the scene while the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard was also requested to assist with transporting the injured Ms Hayes from the cliff to an ambulance.
She was later taken by National Ambulance Service paramedics to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
She said: “I would just like to thank Clare Coast Guard and paramedics for their help in rescuing me from a fall in White Strand, Spanish Point. The life guards, coast guards and paramedics were so professional and caring.
Until my accident I was not aware of the extent of the work they do. I broke my left ankle but am doing fine, thank you all,” Ms Hayes added.
