The Regeneron building was evacuated amid fears of a chemical leak.

Fire crews wearing specialist breathing apparatus and chemical suits investigated the incident and spent several hours at the scene.

An Incident Command Unit, based at Shannon fire station, was also sent to the scene to assist with communications.

The last fire crews left the scene at around 9.30am five hours after being first alerted.

The €274,000 vehicle, commissioned in 2012, operates in a “Command Support Role” primarily to the Local Authority Emergency Services in Clare, North Tipperary, and Limerick City and County.

The vehicle is one of two such units based in Munster with the other located in Cork.
