A surfer was injured in an incident in Lahinch on Thursday afternoon.
Clare County Council lifeguards based at the North Clare beach were alerted to the incident and notified the ambulance service.

Ambulance paramedics requested additional help with recovering the injured man so the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard was called on to assist.
Coast Guard volunteers soon located the casualty and assisted the lifeguards to transfer the man to the waiting ambulance.
The casualty was removed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. It’s understood he may have suffered a fracture ankle.
