Three people have been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Ennis this afternoon.
The two vehicle crash occurred at around 3.20pm on the Limerick Road outside the West County Hotel where one car crashed into a wall.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station; a number of National Ambulance Service resources and Gardaà responded to the incident.
On arrival at the scene emergency crews found that a car had collided with the hotel wall knocking a portion of it.
Two people in the car, understood to be a mother and son, were assessed by ambulance paramedics at the scene and later transported to hospital for further treatment. The driver of the van was also assessed and taken to hospital for further examination. It’s understood their injuries are not serious.
Traffic had been reduced to a single lane while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road was fully reopened after both vehicles had been recovered from the scene.
Gardaà are investigation the circumstances of the collision.
