Three people have been transported to hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on the outskirts of Ennis this evening.
The crash, which involved two cars and a van, occurred shortly before 5.00pm on the R458 Ennis to Barefield Road at Ballymulqueeny. The incident happened at a junction where collisions are regularly reported.
GardaĆ and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the incident along with units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station.
GardaĆ closed the road and diverted traffic away from the area while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The drivers of all three vehicles were assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.
GardaĆ from Ennis are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
One local resident said: āSomething needs to be done about this junction. As long as Iāve lived here, there could an accident every month. Most of them arenāt serious but itās only a matter of time before someone is killed.ā
