Two people airlifted to hospital after West Clare road collision

Two people have been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision in West Clare this afternoon.

The two car crash occurred at around 1.15pm at Tullaroe on the L2016 road that connects Lisdeen and Querrin Village.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Kilkee and Kilrush stations were mobilised to the incident along with Gardaí and a number of National Ambulance Service resources. These included four ambulances and a rapid response paramedic vehicle.

The HSE’s Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) also dispatched two helicopters to the scene. Cork-based Aeromed-01 and Air Corps 112, which operates out of Custume Barracks in Athlone, were able to land metres from the scene and each airlifted a casualty to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

A Garda spokesperson has confirmed: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision at Tullaroe, Co. Clare this afternoon. The collision involving two cars occurred at approximately 1:15pm.

Two people were conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.”
