A woman is recovering in hospital after she was injured in an early morning collision in Ennis.
The incident, which involved two vehicles, happened at around 8.35am at College Green close to St Flannan’s College just metres from a pedestrian crossing.
The woman had to be cut from her vehicle by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment.
Paramedics assessed the woman who complained of a back injury. As a precaution, fire service personnel were asked to remove the roof from the silver Audi before the casualty could be safely removed.
Two units of the fire brigade from Ennis along with two National Ambulance Service resources including a rapid response advanced paramedic unit.
Gardaí closed the road while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The injured woman was removed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
Later, two motorists escaped serious injury following a collision on the Tulla Road at Ballymacahill. Two cars were involved in that incident.
Ambulance and fire crews along with gardaí responded to the incident which happened at Ballymacahill Cross at around 11.30am.
